Clothes shopping when tall

Clothes shopping for tall people. What a joke.

Shopping for nice (semi) fashionable clothes when you are a man or women of height, is not easy.

Go in any high street store and you will see, we are not catered for in anyway. Yet there are loads of us. I can only really speak for men (being a man) but I’m sick of it. As far as clothing designers go, we don’t exist.

If you know different, please post any example of any shop that caters for tall clothing…

  1. We have a dress and gown business that can accomodate the requirements of tall ladies, we don’t charge for extra length, although there are charges for custom sizing of the waist measurements.

We don’t have a bricks and mortar shop, but given the correct measurements we can usual accomodate most sizes and heights. Our sizes range from size 6 to size 44 with a minimum sizing of Size 28 for all dress designs. A size 32 dress for a 6′2″ lady in heels has been our largest item to date, but we are up for a challenge.

If you want any further details before okaying this comment please feel free to email me and I’ll help clarify them for you.

    Cheers

Gap are the only people I buy my jeans from and usually I’m constrained to one or two styles. Boot cut has been pretty good for me.

They do 36″ leg (as opposed to the high street 33/34″ standard) which is usually OK though there is a lot of variation in how far this comes down between styles and often individual pairs.

Plus their full price jean is often > £45 which is very annoying when my mates pick up £5 – £10 bargains that look just as good!

As far as other trousers go, I have to get work trousers tailored as off the shelf ones look absolutely terrible and are far too short.

Why does it cost so much being tall!

    Hope this helps.

I have a recommendation for a store that offers large size shoes for women. Dreamshoes http://www.shoesofyourdreams.com carries US size 10 to 15 in casual and dress shoes. I wear US size 11 and everything in the store comes in my size!

Search By Inseam (www.searchbyinseam.com) is a great resource for women who want to shop by their inseam across multiple sellers. The site searches shops like shopbop, Nordstrom, Gap, Old Navy, Alloy and more, and then categorizes pants by inseam, brand, and price for easy comparison shopping.

Tall girls is a good website for both men and women (www.tallgirls.co.uk for girls; and http://www.thetallshop.co.uk for men) they cater for up to 38″ leg trousers. It is quite fashionable but quite expensive at the same time! would definately recommend though. I hope this helps!

Tall Clothing Mall at http://www.tallclothingmall.com is a great website for tall men and tall women. I created this website because I am 6′1″ and my husband is tall as well as all of my family and extended family. I found shopping for tall clothing very difficult. We know have over 170 stores on the website including stores for tall women and men including tall maternity and large size shoes.

For the beautiful taller ladies I suggest that you visit http://www.LongTallSally.com, they cater from size 8 – 20 in leg lengths 34″ 36″ – the clothes are on trend, gorgeous and relevant in comparison to some online retails. Long Tall Sally can be found online who ship to different counties alternatively you can visit one of their stores located around the UK.

Just visiting the site but I wanted to say thank you to all of those who offered solutions. Shopping has been so frustrating…the places I have been seem to think that only those who wear an XL or XXL can be tall…I’m 5′9″ and their medium pants come half way up my calf! (The XL or XXLs touched the floor!)
I’m excited to look into some of these websites. Thanks again!

Hi, im 5.7, very skinny. i buy size 6 from Dorothy perkins, as well as being tall my legs are extremely long. I buy jeans only from Zara. they are not that pricey and they look good.
I struggle to find work trousers that would fit though, therefore you never see me wearinga pair its always dresses or skirts. But i quite fancy wearing a pair of trousers for a change! Also i found that a lot of the chain shops like zara, have longer trousers in Europe. When I went to Estonia, i bought a pair there and believe it or not it fitted! I had them for 2 years now, need a new pair desperately!
